Christian networking and communications

Electronic communications, whether by the Internet, or through internediate technology media such as BBS networks, can be very useful to Christian churches, mission organisations and similar bodies.

Many churches, however, can't afford to connect to the Internet, and and they lack the skills and expertise to try some of the alterantives, such as BBSs. We are trying to contribute to solving such problems in two ways:

  1. Keeping a database of people who are willing to help by making their skills and expertise available.
  2. Providing an electronic discussion forum where people can ask for help and advice, or be willing to give help and advice.

Discussion forum on Christian networking

The electronic discussion forum for Christian networking and communication. It is for discussing all aspects of Christian networking, including use of the Internet and BBS networks, and how to get the best out of things like Web pages, mailing lists, newsgroups and BBS echoes.

It is a place for people to help each other with information on how to get connected to various networks, and on the best ways of meeting communications needs.

The electronic discussion forum for Christian networking is now available in two different ways. You may connect to it through the FamilyNet BBS network, or, if you have a direct Internet connection and are far from a FamilyNet BBS, you may subscribe to it as an e-mail mailing list.

1. THE MAILING LIST

To SUBSCRIBE to the XNCOM conference

you need to send a message to:

family.xncom@family-bbs.net

The SUBJECT line of the message must contain the following:

SUBSCRIBE

If you want to unsubscribe, send a message to

family.xncom@family-bbs.net

With the message:

unsubscribe

in the subject line

More information is available on the web page http://www.fmlynet.org or
http://www.family-bbs.net

To SEND a messaage to the conference via the list

address the message to:

family.xncom@family-bbs.net.org

You must subscribe before you can send a message!

2. THE FAMILYNET BBS NETWORK

If you are within reasonable calling range of a FamilyNet BBS that carries the XNCOM conference, you can call the BBS to participate. This is a better way to participate. For more information on BBSs and how they can be used, you can check the following Web page:

http://www.oocities.org/Athens/7734/bbs.htm

If you run a BBS and would like to connect it to FamilyNet, go to the FamilyNet Web page.

Links to African Christian web pages

I also maintain a list of links to African Christian web pages, in order to facilitate Christian communications in Africa. If you are interested in African Christianity, it's worth taking a look at it. If you know of any good African Chrsitian web pages you think ought to be included in it, please let me know.

Christian networking database

I keep a database of people who are interested in promoting Christian networking. The aim is to enable people who need help in electronic communications to find the help or resources they need. Among the resources are bulletin Boards (BBSs), so sysops of Christian BBSs should add their information to the database. Reports sorted and selected in various formats can be used - BBSs in a particular country, people belonging to a particular denomination, and so on.

If you would like to be added to the database, you may use the form below. The form is still experimental, and I don't know how well it works, so you can also request a form to be sent to you by e-mail.
