The Halifax Chinese Language School (HCLS) was established in January 1993 by a group of enthusiastic volunteers including Jinyu Sheng, Deming Zhuang, and many others to promote learning of the Chinese language and culture in Halifax.

This is the tenth anniversary of the HCLS. The school has grown from its infant stage to its current status with seven Chinese language classes, three mathematics classes, and the HCLS Choir. The HCLS has become an important part of the vibrant life of the Chinese community in Nova Scotia.
