Being that supportive person in a survivor's life can be tough.  This is the understatement of the year.  Sometimes, it is downright impossible.  You might have a multitude of questions of your own: " You were fine all this time, why should it bother you now?"  "It happenned so long ago....  why not just let it go?"  "What exactly do you want from me?"  "Why don't you just do something about it?"  These are some of the more common questions that are asked by some well meaning and very caring people such as yourself.  Learning the answers can drastically improve the quality of your support, as well as your peace of mind.  The other difficulty that supporters have in common, is that they have emotional and sometimes physical needs too.  These needs are often abandoned in the survivor's world where for them, every day is a struggle.  More often than not, the supporter is the forgotten and unsung hero with no real local services available to them.  This section of the site is dedicated to you.
