Breast Cancer has invaded my body,
but it need not invade my spirit.
There may be scars on my chest,
but there need not be scars on my heart.

I received a book from the 'crafters-book-of-the-month-club' titled Pink
Ribbon Quilts; A Book Because of Breast Cancer by Mimi Dietrich.
I do love to
quilt, but I thought to myself "why would I make a quilt with pink ribbons on
it? Wasn't
that only for breast cancer patients? I would never have breast
cancer. Neither would my Mom or my daughter. After all,
according to the risk factors, we were the least likely group to get this
dreaded disease." So I sold the book on eBay.

My surgeon walks into the room, sits down, takes both of my hands in
hers. She glances up at my husband, then looks back at me and says,
"you have breast cancer."
To say my life was changed forever is an
understatement. But it wasn't as many of you may think. In
some ways, things have changed for the better.
Please feel free to wander around this site and explore things you may
or may not know about breast cancer. I have included my journey
through breast cancer, links for you to explore, and
many other things.

For those who have lost the battle against Breast Cancer, I shall keep
this candle burning. It will remind us of their spirit. It
will remind us of their bravery. It will remind us that we, too,
could be victims and that we should take up their fight. We should
get our mammograms, do our self-breast- checks and participate in
charities for the research and awareness of breast cancer.
