I'll start my DICKEY line with the oldest one that I know...that would be
ANDREW STUART Dickey born about 1798 in Virgina. ANDREW STUART Dickey
married ELIZABETH GORTNER about the 28th of September 1818 in Botetourt
Virgina. ELIZABETH GORTNER was born about 1796 in Virgina, I believe it
was in Botetourt. ANDREW and his wife ELIZABETH moved to Missouri by way
of Tennessee. ANDREW and ELIZABETH had seven children.
The first child was (1) MARY JANE DICKEY, born 1820 in Botetourt, Virgina
MARY JANE DICKEY married WILLIAM HAWKINS 18 June 1835 in Washington County
Missouri. Mary Jane died before 1880. MARY JANE DICKEY and WILLIAM HAWKINS
had seven children JOSEPH, WILLIAM, GEORGE, ROBERT, FRANCIS ELIZABETH,
SARAH JANE, and MARTHA A. MARY JANE DICKEY HAWKINS then
married BAILEY HILLEN. MARY JANE and BAILEY HILLEN then had 5 children
JOSEPHINE, VIRGINA, THOMAS, JULIA and HAMILTON.
Second Child was a male,(2) JOSEPH W. DICKEY, born about 1824 in
Sumner Tennessee. I am not sure if JOSEPH was ever married or if he
had any children, I believe that he did, but I am un able to prove
it yet, JOSEPH W. DICKEY died after 1874.
Third child, female, (3) ADELINE, born about 1827 in Tennessee,
I am assuming it was Sumner County Tennessee also. 1 July 1847
ADELINE married GEORGE WILLIAM SCOTT in Washington
County Missouri. I have 5 children listed
for GEORGE WILLIAM and ADELINE DICKEY SCOTT they were OSCAR, ANDREW,
ELIZA J., JOSEPH S. and SUSANNAH. I have no death dates for this couple.
Fourth child, female,(4) CAROLINE ELIZABETH DICKEY born January 1828
in Tennessee. 4 June 1846 CAROLINE ELIZABETH DICKEY married
ROBERT HENRY SCOTT in Washington County Missouri. CAROLINE and ROBERT
had 5 children that I am aware of, JAMES A., WILLIAM CHILDRESS,
MORGAN H., JUDITH E. and JOHANNA. CAROLINE ELIZABETH DICKEY SCOTT
is buried in Scott cemetery.
Next male child, number (5)ROBERT HOUSTON DICKEY born 25 November
1828 in Washington county Missouri. 7th of October 1851 ROBERT
married NANCY ANN JENKINS (born 4 Feb 1836 in Washington Co. Mo.)
ROBERT and NANCY had 11 children, JAMES, JOHN THOMAS, WILLIAM EDWIN,
JOSEPH HARVEY, GEORGE FRANK, THEODORE "teed", OLIVER "ob",
ELIZABETH "lizzybelle", LAURA "lude", DAVID ANDREW, and WALTER H.
ROBERT HOUSTON DICKEY died 27 April 1907 in Washington County.
and is buried in the Union Cemetery. NANCY died 3 September 1926.
CATHERINE(6) was child number six and to me and my family she is the
important one since she is my direct line ;~) CATHERINE was born 1831
in Washington County Missouri. 25 December 1849 CATHERINE married
SAMUELROBINSON in Washington County Missouri. CATHERINE and SAMUEL
had 13 children they are as follows: WILLIAM T., CHARLES HENRY,
MARY ELIZABETH CATHERINE, SARAH C., EVANGALINE "evaline", ANDREW,
GEORGE O., ROBERT HOUSTON, JAMES, JOSEPH, FIRMAN M., FRANKLIN AND JOHN.
CATHERINE died after 1910 and SAMUEL died about 1905 and is buried in
Gibson Cemetery, Gumbo, St. Francois County Missouri.
(7)ANDREW STUART DICKEY JR. was the last child that was born to ANDREW and
ELIZABETH GORTNER DICKEY. ANDREW JR. was born about 1838 and died
about the time he was 12 years old which would be about 1850.
