RUTH

CHARLES RUTH, born in Pa about 1873. THERE YOU HAVE IT. That is seriously all I have on this fellow. But let me tell you alittle bit about him. This is my great grandfather on my mother side. I have a wonderful old picture of him and his wife HATTIE MAE ROBINSON. Charles first appears in the picture of my family 21 June 1903 when he and Hattie were married. There was a article in the Weekly Independent Newspaper in Missouri the article goes as follows:

CHARLES AND HATTIE MAE ROBINSON RUTH

Mr. Charles Ruth, of Granite City, Ill. and Miss Hattie Robinson of Belgrade, were married at the house of the brides parents, Mr.and Mrs. Charles Robinson, on Sunday, June 21, 1903, by Rev. A. N. Lambert at Caldonia. After the ceremony the happy couple drove to Potosi and remained until monday morning when they departed for a extended tour of the east. They will reside in Granite City.

Appearantly they did move to Granite City Ill. and had two children. EDWARD MARION RUTH, born 23 March 1904 in Granite city Il. CHARLOTTE RUTH, born 4 March 1906 in Granite City, Il. Edward at the age of about 14 ran away from home and joined the merchant marines out of New York. Edward never married and died 8 February 1986. CHARLOTTE RUTH married twice, first to WILLIAM ADDISON PARSONS and then to FREDRICK HEINRICH FRICKE. On Edwards birth certificate Charles' age is listed as 29 and he was a MOULDER. On Charlottes birth certificate Charles' age is listed as 34 and he was a HOD CARRIER. From this I tract them over to St. Louis Missouri and have them as follows:
1913- Charlotte transfered to St. Louis City School from Granite City Schools.
1914- Charles appears in street guide, BRICKLAYER, r. 3522 Cass Ave.
1915- NO LISTING
1916- Charles appears in street guide, CARPENTER, r. 2511 Chester
1917- Charles appears in street guide, LABORER, h. 2511 Chester
1918- Charles appears in street guide, IRONWORKER, h. 2511 Chester
1919- MAY appears in street guide, CLERK, r. 4717 Page Blvd.
1920- MAY and CHARLOTTE appears in 1920 census, 4810a Page Blvd.
1921- CHARLOTTE appears street guide, TELEPHONE OPERATOR, r. 4628 Newberry Terrace. MAY, r. 4628 Newberry Terrace
1922- NO LISTING
1923- MAY died, death certificate says she lived 1432 Hitts Terrace
1924- Charlotte appears in street guide, PHONE OPERATOR, r. 1820 Cora Ave. November 26, 1924 Charlotte married W. A. PARSONS.

HATTIE MAE RUTH ROBINSON'S death certificate say's that she was married, HOWEVER the 1920 census say's that she was widowed and in her obituary there is NO metion of the fact that she was ever married. Just mentions the fact that she was a daughter, mother and sister. After my grandmother, CHARLOTTE died I finally asked my grandfather why grandma would not talk about her family and he told me that she was hurt by her father RUNNING AWAY from the family and did not want any one to know this about her dad. HELP!!!!
