Marie Ulmer born 1863 in Germany she came to the United States and lived in Pensylvania with her family. How or why she came to Missouri is unknown but she did settle in St. Louis and that is where she met and married Albert Schmidt. Albert was born March 1852 in Germany. Albert and Marie were married 21 April 1884 and according to Marie and Alberts oldest daughter, Lena, she said that Albert and Marie had 6 children. They are Lena and her real name is either Christina or Ernistina {she hated which ever it was and would not let any one know what her real name was) Lena was born 12 July 1985 in St. Louis Missouri, Charles is the next child that I have. Charles was born 31 May 1890 in St. Louis. Then there was Ann, she was born 12 February, 1892. Some where in the midst of these children were born 2 other children but I don't have names or dates for these chilren. I am pretty sure they were still born. The last child was said to have been a baby boy. I was told that Marie died in child birth of this child. Lena said that her mom died when the baby was born on 9 December 1895 or 1899. Lena also said that she was made to take care of the family and that one day her father took the baby to the doctor and said that when he came home that he came home with out the baby. The story is that he took the baby to the doctors and the baby died while it was at the doctors office. Lena always said that her father was am very mean and cold man. She said that he use to beat her for leaving too much potato on the skin when she peeled it and the neighbor ladies would trade skins with her so that she would not get beat. The neighbor ladies also taught Lena how to steal from her father when he was drunk and from what Lena said...he was drunk alot. Lena always believed that the baby died, but her brother Charles believed that his father actually gave the baby up for adoption. Lena was married when she was about 16 to a John Henry West. They took Charles in and helped to raise him and Ann went to live with her God parents. Albert died 17 March 1915. Below are some other ULMER links that I have found.
