Here's what happened as told by Dave:
"We were coming back from Lake Michigan after a day at the beach. A truck in front of us went on full breaks on a major highway in Michigan. Our driver realized she couldn't stop in time and tried to go around it. When that happened she lost control and we spun around and slammed into an embankment, then rolled an undetermined amount of times. There were 9 of us in the van (including 5 kids under 9 years old). Irene was the only one with that severe of an injury, the rest had cuts and bruises. Irene's injury is that she broke the top 2 vertebrae in her neck. When that happened, she incurred spinal chord damage, leaving her paralyzed from the neck down. She can't move her arms or legs and she needs a respirator to breath on her own."
Irene is still fighting her injuries in the hospital. Irene she can move her lips but with no sound, so Dave and the kids made a huge effort and studied lip-reading fast, and now there is a way to communicate. Knowing Dave, he won't give up, he'll raise the kids as the best father (and mom) and will work hard to help Irene recover. He did promise me that I'll be able to dance with Irene, and I believe him.
I posted this page trying to get people from all over to help
Dave and his family cope with the tragedy. Dave has to lose work days,
the hospitalization fees are huge and the kids need their expenses too.
Any contribution can help make this kids smile with their healthy mom again.
Please be there for Dave.
