Margaret Meldrum, age 60; Bell Meldrum, age 55 - (these two could be related to Ann)
Robert Grant, agriculture labourer, age 40; Ann Grant, age 35; along with 4 children.
Donald McPherson, Weaver, age 60; Janet McPherson, age 20, a child, age 11 months.
All ages were rounded off to the lowest 5 in the this census.
1851 Census
We are missing a page which could include one more house. At least we know there were 3 dwellings with the following occupants: Our family of McDonalds - Alex and Ann and kids

Ann Grant, Agricultural Labourer, Widow, age 43; Donald, a tailor, age 22; Margaret, age 19 - a pauper from infancy, Elspet, age 13; John, age 10
1861 Census:
Shows four houses and also recorded the number of windowed rooms in the house. This was used to assess a window tax and owners sometimes filled in windows to reduce the tax.
John McDonald, Game Keeper, Age 50, unmarried along with his sister May, aged 52, who was an agricultural labourer. This house had three windowed rooms.
Elizabeth Grant, agricultural labourer, unmarried age 23, along with her daughter Margaret, age 11 months. This house had one windowed room.
Our family of McDonalds - this was the year they immigrated to Canada and shows who was living with Ann at the time:
Ann McDonald - widow, agricultural labourer, age 60; Janet, age 32, unmarried domestic servant; Angus, age 19, unmarried agricultural labourer; James, age 16, unmarried, formerly a farm servant; Elspet (Elizabeth), age 12, scholar. Also living with them was a granddaughter - Ann, age 5. Records show this was Janet's child but records do not show father's name. This house had 3 windowed rooms.
Lachlan McPherson, a shepherd, married, age 50; wife Margaret, age 55. This house had two windowed rooms.
