.R.R. Tolkien's most famous works are The Hobbit and The Lord of the Rings. His other works published in his lifetime are also worth reading. Tolkien managed to create a complete world in Middle Earth, and much of his unpublished work and thoughts were collected by his son Christopher after his death and published in book form. This now far outweighs the work that was published in his own life-time.
