We then board the bus for the ride to Lake Powell. On the way we take a short stop at Glen Canyon Dam. The dam, completed in 1963,created the lake. The dam is so huge and the view from the top is spectacular.
We hurried thru a self-guided tour of the dam and saw the river rafts at the bottom of the dam that we were to take the next day. We spend the night and next day at Wahweap Lodge, a really nice place. When we wake up the next morning the weather was so bad that our rafting trip was cancelled. We went into town and visited the John Wesley Powell Museum. He explored and kept journals and mapped parts of the Colorado River on a 1000 mile journey. Parts of this journey are recreated in the Imax film I told you about earlier.
In the afternoon the weather clears and we take a cruise around Lake Powell.
