For several years, I've had a good friend. His name is He Li-Yi, and he lives in the Yunnan province in South West China. This is the description which can be found about him on one of his books:

"He LiYi is a schoolmaster, teaching English to children in a small school in Yunnan, a province in southwest China. He lives in a little village with his wife and younger son. His elder son is a student at University where he is studying English. He LiYi first learnt English at school and has never stopped trying to improve his understanding of the language. His wife sold a pig to buy him a radio through which he listens to the BBC Chinese Service. He began translating these stories several years ago and at first it was only "a wishful thinking" that they would ever be published."

He Li-Yi is the author of two books:

• The Spring of Butterflies
• Mr. China's Son
