Most of the time we just read the books, but slowly, I'm getting more ambitious and adding some activities along with the reading. B4 FIAR is so flexible this way; we can do as much or as little as we want! Maggie really enjoys reading the books and is more than happy with re-reads!
I apologize that haven't updated this page as often as I wanted to. Here's what we did for The Big Green Pocketbook:
A long time ago I bought my daughter a green pocketbook. Even though it's lime green, she still loves it to this day. We played a treasure hunt game and found all the objects the girl in the book collected after I hid them in our apartment. Understands that 'warmer' means 'closer' and 'colder' means 'farther' now.
We cut out a big green pocketbook shape and made a collage with all the objects, also cut out of construction paper and colored with the crayons we just found. Maggie is cutting quite well now with her little Fiskar scissors.
We splurged and went to have ice cream in an actual ice cream shop, Haagen Daz since there aren't drugstores with counters here in Hong Kong. Later, we bought some orange slices to eat another day. Can't have too many sweets in one day now.
Finally, the highlight of the day. We sang 'The Wheels on the Bus' and rode the bus home. Maggie was happy to drop the coins in the box. It took twice as long as the subway, but it was worth it.
Another book we've enjoyed Corduroy
