KIRPATRICK, ROGER: Would anyone have access to Douglas' Peerage of Scotland (published 1813, vol. 2, page 506? This shows that Margaret was the daughter of Thomas de Somerville, 1st Lord Somervelle by his wife Janet, daughter of Sir. Alexander Stewart of Derneley. Judging by the events described in the article, Margaret was probably born in the early 1400's and was married first to Sir. Roger Kirkpatrick of Closeburn and second to Sir. Thomas Kerr of Fernihirst. Thomas de Somerville is shown as having been the eleventh in succession to Sir Gualter de Somerville of Whichnour in Staffordshire and Somerville Aston in Gloucestershire. Sir Gualter is said to have accompanied William the Conquerer from France to England in 1066.

KIRKPATRICK, JOHN & ROGER: Would anyone have access to Burke's Peerage? I've been told that a full description of the Kirkpatrick family I'm researching is in most editions. Also, I'm looking for someone with access to Nisbet's Heraldry, published in 1722, volume 1, page 146, which describes the family of Kirpatrick of Closburn (anciently Kilosburn). Nisbet says that John Kirkpatrick obtained a charter of confirmation of the lands of Kilosburn, which belonged formerly to his ancestors, from King Alexander the second of Scotland. John's gt-gt-grandson was Roger Kirkpatrick, who married Margaret de Somerville.
