Amalfi Coast Drive...the most beautiful place I've ever seen. I had trouble narrowing down the photos I wanted to scan to put up, as every one looks like postcard material. The road along the coast is one of the most twisted, dangerous drives in the world in a car, so taking a tour bus through those curves was like thumbing our noses at the grim reaper. I wanted to kiss the feet of our driver at journey's end. I'd never seen anyone work miracles behind the wheel of a bus before. Sheer magic. |

The buildings in every town we passed were carved right into the face of the cliffs. Some of the homes were four or more levels, building each section of their home wherever the cliff would allow. You could only see the garage or rooftops of most homes at road level. The owner would park and step onto the roof of their house, then have to climb down to get home. What a concept.

Our first stop was in Sorrento, a town famous for its inlaid wood gifts, such as music boxes, tables, and pictures. We got to watch a master craftsman at work and had plenty of time to poke around and shop. |

The roads were even scary from the vantage point of a pedestrian!
