Summer 1998

Summer '98 was quite the trip for this family. We were aching to get out of Texas and see some family, have a little fun, maybe even hit the beach. At about 9 p.m. June 21st, we packed up the station wagon and pointed the car toward Florida. Two hours into the trip, Katy started throwing up all over the backseat, of course right in the middle of a major traffic jam when I couldn't pull off the road. She was sick all night, not getting much sleep, so of course by the time we pulled into Pensacola at 2 the next afternoon, we were all exhausted. Our trailer we'd reserved was so small and in such awful shape, we had to find something else. Fortunately, they had one cabin left, and we snatched it right up. As you can see, Katy recovered nicely from her illness in time to stick her tongue out at the cabin. Cute kid, huh? Katy at cabin
dunesWe had many reasons for stopping in Pensacola. First and foremost, it's where John and I met 8 years earlier, almost to the day of our arrival. Then, of course there were several places we wanted to go for a trip down memory lane...but who am I kidding? The real reason we went is for the BEACH!!!
John enjoyed the visit, I was thrilled to be back, but Miss Katy fell absolutely madly in love with the white sands of Pensacola. Can you tell? :-) Katy at ocean
