38 weeks, 12:10 am Thursday morning--13 or so days until due date
I guess I'd better write an update so that everyone who reads this journal will know that everything is okay!! ;)

On Thanksgiving, I was very busy cleaning our house, and so was standing most of the day. After sitting down to eat dinner for while, and then getting up, my feet were sooooo sore when I walked on them. I guess they must've swelled up some. After the meal while I was rinsing some dishes, I felt some cramping. I think it was because I was so busy that day. I haven't really felt any cramping since.

I felt achy Saturday night and most of Sunday, but I feel fine now. I guess I might be having quite a few Braxton Hicks contractions, but I think I am getting so used to them that I don't really notice them so much.

My appointment with the midwife last Friday went just fine. Fundal height was 37 cm... the week before it was 35 cm. She said his/her head was higher this week than it was last week. The baby's heartbeat was still 140. My blood pressure was a bit higher. I think it was something like 112 or 120?? over 87. Anyway, the second number is usually in the 60s rather than in the 80s, but my midwife was not concerned.

At the appointment the baby was not posterior anymore! Baby's back was facing forward instead of to my back. I guess the pelivc tilts worked to help baby change position.

Since after my first birth my iron was so low, my midwife checked my iron again this week. I had such pink cheeks at my appointment that she sounded quite certain that I would have enough iron even before she checked me, but since a few weeks ago she had mentioned that she would check it again a couple weeks before the birth, I mentioned it to her. When she checked it, it was definitely high enough.

I also tested for Group B Strep, but I haven't heard back yet whether I have it or not. The test wasn't intrusive at all.

Just wanted to mention that I have not had any internal exams this whole pregnancy. I have no clue if I am thinning or dilating or whatever!! :)

39 weeks, 12:46 am Thursday morning--6 days until due date
I feel sooooooo big. I waddle. Sometimes I find it so hard to walk. My pelvic area is quite sore when I walk or change positions in bed. I have to go to the bathroom an awful lot. My first baby was 12 days early. This one is due in a week. Sigh....... It's so hard to wait. But I will....... I was *really* achy this morning, but am feeling pretty normal right now. I want to get lots of cleaning done! I know I should sleep more instead of clean, but, ya know, cleaning is important. ;)

39 weeks, 11:40 pm Friday night--5 days until due date
I am now due in 4 days, well, in about 20 minutes it will be 4 days. The days are sure dragging by. And I know I potentially might not have my baby until 2 or 3 weeks from now! Ack! I'd hate to have to wait that long... but I will if I have to since I don't want to be induced. Hopefully baby will come soon!

I have been having suspicions sp? that my baby had dropped, and it made me so happy today when my midwife metioned during my appointment that baby has dropped. It makes me feel like something is happening. A couple things that alerted me to the idea that baby might have dropped were that my tummy seems to be lower down, plus I have been having to go to the bathroom *very* often! I got up about 4 times last night to go.

I will try to write more soon!

39 weeks, 1:52 am Sunday morning--3 days until due date
Yes, I should be in bed!!! ...

Okay, baby, today is the day you are supposed to come!! :) John really wants you to be born on his and Ellen's birthday. But he said it's okay if you come later, so we won't worry about it if you decide to wait.

Today we went for a walk in the park and also went shopping for some things I wanted to buy before baby is born. While we were shopping I felt more Braxton Hicks. Sometimes today I even felt a little back pain! Funny that I should be excited about back pain. lol

Been doing lots of cleaning! Gotta get ready! I think that we are actually quite a lot more ready for our baby this time than we were with Ellen since she was 12 days early. But there is always more to do. :)

40 weeks, due today
I had my baby today! *He* was born at 9:40 this morning after about six hours of labor. His name is John Calvin, and we will call him Calvin. He is 8 pounds even and 22 inches long. I had a home waterbirth!!!!!! :D It still hurt, but I am very happy with how it all turned out. :) I got to push when I felt like pushing. I got to be as loud as I wanted while pushing! lol I never had an internal exam to see how far along I was. My water broke naturally toward the very end while I was pushing. I pushed him out really slowly and didn't even tear at all!! I did have cervical prolapse so I'm supposed to be in bed right now, but just had to let you all know the news!! I will be off bed rest tomorrow and may write more if I feel like it. :) Calvin is doing just great! He is nursing well. I have to be a bit patient when trying to help him latch on, but I know we will get the hang of it. :) Oh, I could go on and on, but I'd better get back into bed. I feel really good and Calvin is a very contented baby.
