My wife, Kate, and I were invited to pray the Living Rosary at St.Joseph Church in Galliano, LA with each our rosary, starting rom the Altar, going around inside the church and back to the Altar, with each person holding his or her rosary.
On the way back home after the rosary, I told Kate that I would make a living Rosary big enough for sixty people to pray the rosary on one big rosary.
The moment I told some of my friends about the living Rosary, they all wanted a part in making it.
Here are the names of those who worked on it: Kate Cochennic, Edwin France, Alidore and Roddy Terrebonne, Larry Guidry, Billie Fontenot, and myself.
The living Rosary was finished on Holy Thursday, March 31, 1988, and was used on Good Friday, april 1, 1988, for the first time at Holy Rosary Catholic Church in Larose, LA. It was a big success. On April 22nd, Marlene Folse borrowed the Rosary until the 2nd of May. On the 1st of May, the Living Rosary was used at St. Francis Cabrini in New Orleans, LA for the second time. ON May 3rd at 4:30 P.M., the Rosary was used at St.Joseph Catholic Church in Galliano, LA. On May 25th, 1988, the Rosary was used at Our Lady of Prompt Succor Catholic Church in Golden Meadow, LA. On June 10th, it was used at Gray, LA. It was also used in Thidodaux and also in Amelia, La for the March of Christ.
Anyone who wishes to borrow the Living Rosary can do so as long as they are responsible for its safety and to return it in time for somebody else to use somewhere else.
The big rosary also went to Medjugorje and was used on the mountain where the big cross is. There was a priest who led the rosary for the other people.
The big rosary went to many other places. Five big rosaries were made form the big rosary that we made.
I hope that people will continue to use the big rosary as we pray the rosary every week day before mass.
