Frances Loftiss Carroll
Well now, I’ve been at this a little over a year now and some progress is being made. While some of you choose to ignore me, others of you are sharing bits and pieces of information. To those of you who are helping, I am very grateful. I cannot begin to tell you how much I appreciate Cousins Jack,Gary,Floyd Loftiss and Francis Luttrell. I thank them for the
information they have supplied. We still have a long way to go but we have made some headway...thanks! To aunt’s Monez and Lorene Loftiss, my many thanks! You have never failed me and I appreciate you and love you.
To those of you who think I aspire to write a book of Loftiss and market it, I do not! I have been turned away often times by those who have been “burned” by this. I have no hidden agendas nor the funds to write a family book. I simply want to see pictures, hear stories and know about my ancestors. Please help me know more about our ancestors and let me share some of those facts with you. I don’t even care about skeleton’s in the closet, everyone has them. I know we have some very proud heritages to share and I would like copies of them.
Surely there are family members who remember the family of Victor Darius Loftiss and Florence Mae Bascom and can provide us with more family memories.
Seeking Families of John Roberts, Vesta Ann Cartwright, Jefferson Davis Loftiss, Bertha Ferguson, Burton D., Mary, Daniel B., William Morris, Martha Ann, Thomas Jefferson Loftis(s), Mary Ann Senior, Seguine, Andrew Bascom
Sandy and I, (Sandy is my husband), recently made our yearly sojourn to Kansas to visit the Carroll’s. Graciously, he stopped in West Plains, MO and we tried to go through the limited genealogical section there. Sadly, I found nothing about the Loftis(s) family! Someone suggested we were in
the wrong county and needed to look in the next county over. By the time that suggestion was made it was too late to go there. I cannot tell you of my disappointment.
I did find some information on the Huse family and sent it to Cousin Pat Marshall who is working on Bascom family genealogy. Pat sent me a copy of the tombstone where both John Roberts and Vesta Ann Cartwright are laid to rest. Vesta Ann married Mr. Roberts after she was married to Thomas Jefferson Loftis(s). That means there is a whole arm of the family tree that I am missing. Anyone connected to the Roberts family or knowing anything about the Cartwright family is asked to share information with me.
Please! I would be thrilled to have pictures to see of my ancestors...
Following in the Family Footsteps
Our family, the Carroll’s, have been blessed. Our son, Ray Carroll Jr.,has entered Southern Seminary and is studying to become a pastor. I understand there are several ministers in the family on my grandmother’s side. Florence Mae Bascom has left some limited records which tell us there were ministers among the Bascom’s and Seguine families.
