Benjamin Franklin was at one time in charge of the U.S mint. Forgery of banknotes was a great problem. He deliberitaly misspelled Philadelphia on a banknote in order to enable the detection of forgeries. Unfortunately for him, the forgers simply coppied his deliberate mistake.
