The Forgotten

The world refers to you as the Forgotten,
The Unsung Heroes,
 For you were the
Men and Women of the Korean Conflict.

It was a time when words like
Honor, Courage, and Heroism
Meant and stood for something.

Then on 18 July 1953,
In the region of Pau-gol
A young Army Corporal
Put the true meaning to these words.

While relieving an endangered unit
That was under artillery and mortar fire
This young Soldier put himself in harms way
To save others.

The world has Forgotten this Soldiers'
Actions of that tragic day,
But somewhere
I'm sure there's a Granddad today that can
Hold his Grandchild's hand because of his actions.
The very small hand that may
One day hold the future of all mankind.

Because the words
Courage and Heroism
Were not just words to be bestowed on one.
It was a way of life.

The Army gave him a medal,
I’m sure his Compatriots
Named him a Hero,
But the name I’ve got for him is
DAD.

So never once think you were
 FORGOTTEN,
Because to the ones that count
You and your actions
Will always be
REMEMBERED.
