I just had to visit your page one more time, Marion in Smythe County VA, is supposedly the birth place of my Grandmother Julia Ethel Motley-Ferguson, if you have an contacts there I would appreciate the help. The Motleys and Fergusons started out in Jame
towm,Williamsburg and Gloucester and steadly marched west, or so it seems. Found quite a few in the Kentucky Land Grant books, but I'm afraid its another Clan.
Love your cabin, that looks like a wonderfull peacefull life.
My Hyatt family comes from Winchester Ohio, Step Father Oliver D. Hyatt born in Ashville Ala, in 1889. Guess I have to do the right thing and research them too!

Came across your site during a search for info on McDowell County. My dad still lives at Hensley, but he is 76, somewhat senile and not much help in doing research on the family names above. A lot of the Walker and Bailey family is buried at the cemeter
