Golden Retrievers have grown rapidly in North America becoming one of the top breeds owned. Golden Retrievers are second in Canada to Labrador Retrievers for the amount of dogs registered each year with the Canadian Kennel Club (CKC).

Many people do little if any research about the breed prior to purchasing this renowned family dog, and ultimately lots of Golden Retrieves end up in rescue programs because this was not what the family was expecting.
