His birthday may still be a month away, but that didn't stop Major Monkey - a.k.a. Alex White - from receiving a swing set earlier this summer.

"We just felt he ought to get some use out of it before winter comes," said Karen White, grandmother. "This way he can play on it for a few months before it gets cold."

The Whites selected one of the hottest days of the summer to deliver and install the swing set.

"Boy, just where is that Uncle Scott," complained Garry White, grandfather. "He was supposed to be here to help out with this."

Despite the soaring temperatures and nearly impossible humidity, the swing set was assembled and placed in what little shade remains in the back yard. Unfortunately, the shade is provided by a Mulberry tree.

"Well, we'll just have to keep it cleaned off," said Rick White, father. "He can still enjoy it anyway."

Major Monkey barely gave the adults a chance to get the swing set finished before giving it a test drive. The slide was the first item assembled.

"Boy, I guess he sure likes this," exclaimed Karen White as she struggled to keep it from falling over.
