Boss told me we were going to learn something new today. We are going to see other dogs just like me who work Sheep. Boss keeps talking about seeing Sheep and herding them. I don't know what Sheep are, but herding??? Hmm... I know how to herd a Basket Ball... but a Sheep???? I've never seen a Sheep before.
Boss put all of my dog stuff in the truck, and off we went. Boss said this was a big Working Sheep Dog Competition sponsored by the South Carolina Border Collie Association.
I have never seen so many Border Collies in my life! All shapes and sizes. Some had floppy ears like mine, and other's had ears that stood strait up. Some looked like they weren't a BC, but you could tell... just by the way they walked. Most of them could care less about other dogs around them... they have a job to do. At last, I am among BC friends and their Masters.
Boss took me down to where the spectators were, and I could see in the distance one of my brother BC's working these animals with brown fuzzy fur. Boss said that those were sheep, but they were too far away to smell them, so all I could do was watch. I could here whistling noises and the working BC would drop, move left or right, speed up and slow down based on the whistle call. I think that I could move those fuzzy things through the gates if Boss would let me, but Boss says that there is a right way, and a wrong way, just like learning Flyball. Boss says he still loves me and I gave him a *Wet* kiss. I want to check out these fuzzy things with 4 legs.
When there was a break in the competition, the other BC bosses wanted to see me run Flyball. They were impressed that I could run the jumps so fast, but they know that ALL of us BC's ::: Love ::: Tennis Balls!
After the competition was over, Boss took me down to the 'Sheep' pen. Wow!!! These things don't want to be near me, and I can make them go ANYWHERE. It is too bad that Boss makes me stop and lie down. These fuzzy things (I ::: know ::: they are sheep) are like putty in my paws!
Boss took some pictures of my first sheep experience. This is FUN!!! I hope you think so too :)
