9. John³ Colwell Sr. (Robert², Robert¹) was born in Bristol, RI 7/2/1708. John died 12/21/1792 in Foster, RI, at 84 years of age.

He married Margaret Sprague. Margaret was born in Hingham, MA 5/14/1716. She was the daughter of William Sprague and Hannah Mitchell.

John Colwell Sr. and Margaret Sprague had the following children:

+ 11 i. John (Colwell)⁴ Colvin Jr. was born before 2/3/1775, the first event for which there is a recorded date.

12 ii. William Colwell was born 7/27/1740. William died 7/27/1793 in Foster, RI, at 53 years of age. His body was interred in Foster, RI, Oak Hill-Colwell Cemetery. He married Lucea Arnold in Glocester, RI, 5/10/1772.

13 iii. Daniel Colwell was born 12/7/1741. Daniel died 7/18/1835 in Richfield, NY, at 93 years of age. He married three times. He married Mrs. Susanna Warner. He married Mercy Hopkins. He married Hannah Sprague. Hannah was born in Mendon, MA 12/21/1712. She was the daughter of William Sprague and Hannah Mitchell.

14 iv. Christopher Colwell was born in Foster, RI 11/5/1746. Christopher died 7/15/1814 in Richfield, NY, at 67 years of age. He married Martha Winsor.
