The "canopy" is open in the middle.
The posts are built in five sections: the base post,
the vase turning, and the octagonal "tapered" column,
the post cap, and the finial.
The rails are 8/4 maple joined with mortise and
tenon to the posts. The headboard is 4/4 maple
with routed curved moldings and a large finial.
