My Family Tree
In the mid-1700's a group of people immigrated to the US from an area of western Germany bordering
the Rhine river, known as the Palatinate. They sought economic and religious freedom in
the new world, and accepted the invitation of William Penn for land at 10 cents an acre.
The port of entry was Philadelphia. These settlers travelled to the northwest border of
civilization, in Pennsylvania's Northampton and Lehigh Counties. Life was difficult, and
deadly confrontation with the Indians was common.
In the early 1800's a western route to Pittsburgh was open, and many families moved again.
By wagon caravan, they crossed the mountains and settled in Pennsylvania's Westmoreland,
Armstrong, Butler, and Clarion counties. My ancestors were among these brave families.
This database contains over 6000 individuals, many of whom are related to me along
my paternal line. Choose from the long list of SURNAMES or
