For several years I have incorporated
Alaska and the
Iditarod Race in my winter unit. Perhaps my enthusiasm has
been contagious. I have always wanted to participate in
this race from Anchorage to Nome. The interest and
fascination
for the land, people, cultures, and and
dog sledding has been universal in the primary and
intermediate classes I have taught. This section
incorporates curriculum for young students but many of the
ideas and resources are easily extended to the intermediate
level. However, I will be adding an intermediate Alaska
page for a novel study during the summer of 2000.
The Musher's Menu will lead you through the
various topics and curriculum areas. Click the mouse arrow
to the underlined topic for a direct link. I will be adding
more information within the next few weeks.
Happy Mushing,
Sarah Froehlich, M.Ed.
