Joel Edward Sykes was born August 16, 1942 in Harlan, Kentucky. He married Noretta Kiser in 1964, in Vanceburg, Kentucky. Children of Joel and Noretta Sykes:

Joel died May 21, 1965 as the result of a automobile accident while attending Morehead State University. He was two weeks shy of Graduation. Son Greg was only two weeks old.

Gone but by no means forgotten.
