“ANGER THE BITTER ROOT”

What good reason would the Lord want us to not have friends that are angry people?

(Prov 22:24-25 KJV) Make no friendship with an angry man; and with a furious man thou shalt not go: Lest thou learn his ways, and get a snare to thy soul.
(Prov 29:8 KJV) Scornful men bring a city into a snare: but wise men turn away wrath.
(Eccl 7:9 KJV) Be not hasty in thy spirit to be angry: for anger resteth in the bosom of fools.

************

What do we do when we have been angry and the other person does not want to accept our apology to forgive us? Should we wait for them to apologize to us?

(Eph 4:26-26 KJV) Be ye angry, and sin not: let not the sun go down upon your wrath: Neither give place to the devil.

(Prov 19:11 KJV) The discretion of a man deferreth his anger; and it is his glory to pass over a transgression.

When someone has hurt us and caused us to be angry what does the Lord say we are to do?

(Eph 4:31-32 KJV) Let all bitterness, and wrath, and anger, and clamour, and evil speaking, be put away from you, with all malice: And be ye kind one to another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God for Christ's sake hath forgiven you.

*************

Have you ever been snared by the devil into anger only to find out you were wrong?

(James 1:19-20 KJV) Wherefore, my beloved brethren, let every man be swift to hear, slow to speak, slow to wrath: For the wrath of man worketh not the righteousness of God.

Is there an area of anger in you heart, buried deep?

Can you ask the Holy Spirit to show you any hidden anger so that He can take charge of it?

Are you willing to ask someone to pray for you about it?

You do not have to make a public confession but you do need to confess to our Lord. He wants us to be able to approach His throne with confidence so that we may receive His mercy.

Hebrews 4:14-16
Therefore, since we have a great high priest who has gone through the heavens, Jesus the Son of God, let us hold firmly to the faith we profess. For we do not have a high priest who is unable to sympathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are--yet was without sin. Let us then approach the throne of grace with confidence, so that we may receive mercy and find grace to help us in our time of need.
