BENJAMIN FARMER'S WILL

Be it remembered that I, Benjamin Farmer of the County of Franklin, of the State of Kentucky, being of sound mind and memory and knowing the uncertainty of this life, and being disposed to dispose of all by worldly goods aforesaid, which in truth pleased God to help me with, do make and publish this my last will and testament in manner and form to wit:

First, I loan to my beloved wife, Susanna G Farmer, during her natural life or widowhood, the tract of land whereon I now live, containing one hundred and eighty-six acres, together with the following slaves to wit: Floragh, Andy, Julus, Mary, Doshal, Marthy Amia. Except what may be hereafter excepted. Also my personal estate what may be hereafter excepted.

Second, I give to my son, Thomas Farmer, a horse, equal to either of the horses I gave to my sons John G Farmer and Silas C Farmer, which I except out of the personal estate I loaned to my wife.

Third. I give to my daughters, Sally Crook, a horse, equal to either of the horses I gave to my sons, John G Farmer, Silas C Farmer, which I except out of the personal estate I loaned to my wife. I also loan to my daughter Sally a negro girl out of the slaves loaned to my wife, during the natural life time of my wife, and it is further my will and desire, that at the death of my wife, that my daughter Sally Crook, have choice of the girls, Mary or Marthy at their value.

Fourth. I give to my son Taply J Farmer, a horse and saddle out of the personal estate I loaned to my wife Susanna, equal to either of the horses I gave to my sons John G Farmer, and Silas C Farmer.

Fifth. I give to my son Benedict Farmer, a horse and saddle out of the personal estate I loaned to my wife, Susanna equal to either of the horses or saddles I gave to my sons, John G and Silas C Farmer, to him when he arrives at the age of twenty years old.

Sixth. It is my will and desire that the legacy coming to me from my father's estate in Virginia, be equally divided amongst my six children to wit: John G Farmer, Silas C Farmer, Thomas Farmer, Sally Crook, Tapley Farmer, Benedict Farmer and lastly at the death of my wife Susana, it is my will and desire that all the real and personal estate with the increase to be equally divided between my six children, John G Farmer, Silas C Farmer, Thomas Farmer, Sally Crook, Tapley Farmer, and Benedict Farmer and I do hereby constitute and appoint my wife Susanna and my son John G Farmer, executrix and executor to this my last will and testament, revoking all former wills made by me in testimony hereof I have hereunto set my hand Seal this first day of November 1836.

The last will and testament of Benjamin Farmer was produced in court and proven by the oaths of Edwin E Hawkins and William F P Wilson subscribing witness thereto to be the act and deed of the said testator and ordered to be recorded which is done accordingly.
