The Elam Farmer Family
4 Elam Farmer, b. about 1725, d. 1784 (W B 3, p. 307) m. Phebe, daughter of Benjamin Cheatham and Grace Williams his wife, of Amelia Co., Va. He served on the Grand Jury May court 1763 and May court 1765, Order Book 3, pages 404 and 662. At the May court 1772, members of the Grand Jury were Robert Haskins, Foreman, Thomas Cheatham, 4 Elam Farmer and others. The jury indicted the Rector of Dale Parish; "The Rev. Archibald McRoberts for making use of hymns or poems in the church service, instead of David's Psalms, contrary to law within twelve months past.: (Va. Magazine 11, p. 414).
