A copy (From Will Book II, pages 63-4), Chesterfield Co., Va.

In the name of God Amen, I Hezekiah Farmer of Chesterfield Co., being in perfect mind and sound memory thanks be to God for the same, do make and ordain this my last will and testament in manner and form following to wit:

• Item. I give to my son Elam Farmer all that part of my land lying in the county of Powhatan supposed to be one hundred and twenty acres, be the same more or less, also one negro boy named Hall, now in his possession to him and his heirs forever.
• Item. I give and bequeath to my son Benjamin Farmer one hundred and twenty acres of land, beginning on Turpin or Marshall's line, running south to Edward Bass' line, so as to run a straight line to be as wide at the south end as the north so as to take the 120 acres, adjoining the lands of Aaron Haskins, formerly Parker's unless in running said line straight it should take the house and orchard in the 120 acres, and in that case line must be turned to the east so as to leave the house and orchard and then west again, so as to make that quantity, also one negro boy named Spencer now in his possession to him and his heirs forever.
• Item. I lend to my wife Elizabeth Farmer all the balance of my land & plantation not already given away during her natural life also three negroes, viz: Jack, Molley & child Pompey, and their increase, also one fourth part of all my stock of every description, two feather beds and furniture and twenty dollars to buy such things as she may want to keep house with and as much provision as will serve her until she can make it, and at her death to be equally divided amongst all my children Polly Williams, her portion which is one sixth is to be put in the hands of my son Elam Farmer for the benefit of her the said Polly Williams' children.
• Item. I lend to my daughter Polly Williams one negro girl named Cintha, during her natural life and at her death to be equally divided amongst her children, them & their heirs forever.
• Item. I lend to my daughter Elizabeth Bass, one negro girl named Cloe during her natural life & at her death to be equally divided amongst her children, their heirs forever.
• Item. I lend to my daughter Phebe Farmer, two negroes to wit: Billy Walker & Harriet, also one feather bed and furniture, one chest, one cow, and calf & four head of sheep, during her natural life, and then to go to her children if any and if none to her brothers and sisters in equal portions, them and their heirs forever.
• Item. I lend to my daughter Peggy Hudson one negro girl named Sally now in her possession during her natural life, and then to go to her children if any and if none to her brothers and sisters in equal portions, them and their heirs forever.
• Item. My will and desire is that all my estate that is not already given away be equally divided amongst all my children except Polly Williams, and the portion which would have fallen to her, which is one sixth part is to be put into the hands of my son Elam Farmer for the benefit of her the said Polly Williams' children.

  My will and desire is that my estate be not appraised.

  Lastly, I nominate and appoint Benj Good and my son Elam Farmer executors to this my last will and testament.

  In Chesterfield County Court, Sept 11, 1826.

  This last will and testament of Hezekiah Farmer, dec'd was proven by the oath of Thomas Turpin, witness thereto, and continued for further proof. And in said court, Oct 9, 1826. The same was further and fully proven by the oath of Henry W Turpin, also a subscribing witness thereto, and ordered to be recorded. And on the motion of Elam Farmer an executor therein named, who entered into bond with security, and took the oath prescribed by law a certificate is granted him for obtaining probate thereof in due form.
