Worked from the age of 9 in the tobacco industry and farming. In 1878 he was
appointed marshal of Louisiana until 1880 when he was elected constable of
Buffalo township. He was sheriff of Pike Co from 1881 to 1884. In 1876 he
was appointed chief of the fire department of Louisiana. He is a member of
Evening Star Lodge No. 28, IOOF and Rising Sun Lodge #22 AOUW, Unison Lodge
#1875, K of H and Anchor Lodge #60 Kof P, all of Louisiana, MO.
