"Mary, the daughter, was just three years old when her parentsemigrated. A family tradition says they were captured by Edward Teach, the pirate, known as "Blackbeard", who, after robbing them of all theypossessed, set them free. "Blackbeard's" career was short, 1716 -1718, and his priacy confined to the coast of America withheadquarters at Ocracoke Inlet on the coast of North Carolina."
This story has been handed down through the generations of theWilliamson family in the United States. It is also held by the SamuelWilliamson family in England, a descendent of the same family.
