He died on 18 Nov 1911 at Richardson, Dallas, Texas, at age 45 (Reverend W. C. Wallis and Robert Sidney Rippy were coming back from the cotton gin, where they had taken a load of cotton boles, in November 1911 when they were hit by a south-bound train. The wind was blowing strong and they were letting the mules take them back while they were down in the cotton wagon. He was negotiating for more land at the time he was hit by the train.
They were crossing the Houston and Texas Railroad a twhat today is Beltline Road in richardson, Texas. The Preacher of the Methodist Church, Wallis, was killed as well as farmer Rippy. Wallis was dragged by the train to the school ground at Phillips Street. One mule was also killed. Bunyan Lee came to the cotton field to tell the Rippy family of the accident).102
