Arkansas Fire Academy Schedule of Classes

The Cave City Fire Depatment(CCFD) has 5 certified training officers and four of those are adjunct instructors for the Arknasas Fire Academy. We have regular training sessions on the first and third Monday of each month, and an officers meeting quarterly. These sessions are normally 3 hours in length and are all fire suppression related.

Special meetings are held perodically for specialized personnel (ie. rescue, medical) these classes usually are weekend classes lasting about 4 hours.

Throughout the year several extra classes are offered in house and also at other sites provided by the Arkansas Fire Academy. These class are attended by a large majority of our members.

Training Requirments

All CCFD Members:

12 Hr Intro to fire protection (all members within 1st year)

12 hr Protective Equipment/SCBA(all members within 1st year)

4 hr Wildland Firefighting(all members within 1st year)

Interior Attack Personnel:

12 Hr Intro to fire protection (all members within 1st year)

12 hr Protective Equipment/SCBA(all members within 1st year)

4 hr Wildland Firefighting(all members within 1st year)

16 hr Structure Firefighting class provided by th Arkansas Fire Academy

4 hr Ventilation class provided by our instructors with our equipment

Recomendation by the Training Officer and Chief to the department.

Pump Operations:

Basic

12 Hr Intro to fire protection (all members within 1st year)
12 hr Protective Equipment/SCBA(all members within 1st year)
4 hr Wildland Firefighting(all members within 1st year)
16 hr Basic Pump Operations
16 hr Emergency Vehicle Driving
Approval of the department members with Training Officer and Cheif recomendations

Senior Pump Operator

12 Hr Intro to fire protection (all members within 1st year)
12 hr Protective Equipment/SCBA(all members within 1st year)
4 hr Wildland Firefighting(all members within 1st year)
16 hr Emergency Vehicle Driving
16 hr Basic Pump Operations
Experience as a Basic Pump Operator
16 hr Advanced Pump Operations provided by our instructors with our equipment
Skills examination by the Training Officer and all other Sr. Pump Operators
Approval of the department members with Training Officer and other Sr. Pump Operators recomendations

Rescue:

12 Hr Intro to fire protection (all members within 1st year)
12 hr Protective Equipment/SCBA(all members within 1st year)
4 hr Wildland Firefighting(all members within 1st year)
16 hr Emergency Vehicle Driving(Rescue and apparatus drivers)
12 hr Auto extrication(Rescue)
12 hr Advanced Auto Extrication(Rescue, Held by our department with our instructors and equipment)
16 hr Basic Rope Rescue(only those who will perform this task)
Approval of the present members before you are authorized to respond.

Medical First Response

12 Hr Intro to fire protection (all members within 1st year)
12 hr Protective Equipment/SCBA(all members within 1st year)
4 hr Wildland Firefighting(all members within 1st year)
16 hr American Heart or Red Cross Proffesional level CPR
40 hr Arkansas Fire Academy First Responder class
14hr Infection Control Class(held annually)
Approval of the Chief
