HI!

My name is Thomas Corbin Robison.

I was named after my Great-Grandfather

Alfred Thomas Corbin.

His wife was Sara Emeline Behymer.

Emma, as she was called, was born 29 Aug 1866 in Grant Co. Indiana, near the town of Independence (now called Rigdon). Her parents were William Behymer and Martha (Littleton) Behymer.

Emma and Alf married on 1 Oct 1884 in Rushville, Indiana. They had two children, my maternal Grandmother Ethel Mae Corbin, and her brother Jesse Alfred Corbin. Emma died of a post-natal infection on 6 Jun 1906, just a few weeks after Jesse was born.

Alf and Emma are buried in the Crown Point Cemetery in Kokomo, Howard Co., Indiana.

William Behymer was born in or near Crab Orchard, Lincoln Co. Kentucky, on 5 Apr 1822. His parents were Solomon Behymer and Mary ÒPollyÓ Webb.

William married Martha Littleton on 3 Apr 1845 in or near Pleasant Hill (a.k.a. Locust Corner), Pierce Township, Clermont Co. Ohio. Martha was born 8 Apr 1827 near Mt. Holly, Clermont Co. Ohio.

MarthaÕs father was John Littleton, but I know nothing more about this Littleton family. If you have any information on the Littleton family of Clermont Co., Ohio, please contact me.

William died on 25 Aug 1890 in Grant Co. Indiana. A copy of a postcard from his eldest son Perry to another son John, informing John of the impending death, can be found elsewhere on this web site. Martha remained in Grant Co. until her death on 3 Mar 1914. William and Martha are buried in the Knox Chapel Cemetery, northwest of Rigdon, Grant Co. Indiana.

Solomon Behymer was born on 21 Oct 1782 in Botetourt Co., Virginia. His parents were Jonathan and Sarah A. Behymer.

Solomon married Mary ÒPollyÓ Webb on 2 Feb 1801, in Franklin Co., Virginia. Shortly after this, SolomonÕs father and several brothers moved from Virginia to Clermont Co., Ohio. Solomon may have traveled with them, but settled for a time in Lincoln Co. Kentucky before continuing up to Clermont County.

Solomon died on 8 Dec 1858 in Clermont Co., Ohio, and is buried in the Mt. Holly Congregational Chapel Cemetery in Pierce Township. It is not known when Polly died nor where she is buried.

There is a reasonable amount of evidence that suggests that SolomonÕs father was Jonathan Behymer. Jonathan may have been born 18 Aug 1744, very likely in Holland. He had two wives who bore him perhaps eleven children. While several records exist that delineate this family, they have not been confirmed in any satisfactory manner. Diary entries of an Aaron Behymer, thought to be JonathanÕs grandson, have been widely circulated but contain conflicting data.

If you are descended from any of my ancestors mentioned above, I would dearly love to hear from you.
