AND JAN. - MAR., JULY - AUG., 1891 reported that he was named K. OF W. in
the Savannah Tribe NO. 4 of the Order of Red Men. The great Council of Red Men held their annual session in Savannah at the wigwam of Chippewa Tribe No. 4 in the Sorrel building at Bay and Bull St. in 1887. The Council is composed of fifty delegates from Tribes located at Savannah, Atlanta, Augusta and Columbus, Ga. and Anniston, Ala., Columbia and Anniston, Ala., Columbia and Graniteville, S.C., and Lively and Montgomery, Ala.

According to the World Book Encyclopedia, 1960 edition, the improbed Order of Red Men is.."A fraternal society with about 150,000 members in the United States. The members are organized into local lodges. They pay dues that entitle them to benefits in case of sickness, accident and death. the society dates back before the Revolutionary War in America. It was formally organized as the Improved Order of the Red men, under a charter granted by the Maryland legislature in 1835, its women's affiliate, the Degree of Pocahontas, was organized in 1886. The Order of Red Men is a non-profit organization devoted to inspiring a greater love for the United States and the principles of liberty. Founded in 1765. the patriots worked to help establish freedom and liberty in the Early Colonies. They patterned themselves after the Iroquois Indian nation and its democratic governing body. The Degree of Pocahontas is the ladies Auxiliary of the Order of Red Men and both are active in the charitable and patriotic causes. George Washington, Samuel Adams, Thomas Jefferson, Patrick Henry, John Hancock, Thomas Paine, Paul Revere, Theodore Roosevelt, Warren G. Harding, Franklin D. Roosevelt and many other prominent citizens belonged to the Order of Red men. While the Alabama chapter surrendered its charters in 1963, the national organization still exists with its headquarters in Waco Texas.

He was a carpenter with Bragdon and Segur 78 Lincoln St. In 1900 City Directory he was listed as a cabinet maker and lived at 440 Price St. He was listed as living at the Ga. Confederate Soldiers Home. In the 1915 city directory he is listed as a watchman C. of G. and lived at 434 Price St. He was in the 26th Inf. Regiment. in the Civil War.

He was married to Mary Cathrin (Marie) CESSAR (daughter of Hosea/Hosey B. CESSAR and Mary LYON) on Apr 18 1867. Married by Rev. C. H. Coley MG. Mary Cathrin (Marie) CESSAR was born in May 1847 in Ga.. She died on Jul 18 1914. She was buried on Jul 18 1914 in Laurel Grove Cemetery Lot 1325. They resided at 434 Price St.
