Phil is a 12+ yr old Italian Greyhound who was found running in a junkyard along I-94 in Racine WI.  He was terribly emaciated and very ill.  HOPE Safehouse in Racine took him in and their veterinarian donated most of her time and resources in treating him.  In addition to malnutrition, he was diagnosed with early stage renal failure, severe periodontal disease, and the most serious, cutaneous hemangiosarcoma, or skin cancer.

After several weeks of intensive care and a lot of love, Phil was able to leave North Shore Animal Hospital and go to IGCA Rescue.  He was fostered for another several weeks by Carol Sumbry, an IGCA rep before he was well enough to travel to Iowa.  I adopted him sight unseen in August of 1998.  He was finally well enough to come home to me on October 3, 1998.

And I don't know how I ever got along without him!
