| Daylily Stella d'Oro | Hemerocallis Stella d'Oro |
The Stella d'Oro is a recent addition to the family of
daylilies and was one of the first we introduced to our perennial garden.
What sets it apart from earlier varieties is the length of the blooming
season for the plant. The blooming season is from spring to fall. While
ours paused a bit in the middle of the summer, it was one of the first to
show its color and one of the last to fade in the fall.

| Planting Time | Early to late spring. |
| Flowers | Yellow, 2 to 2 1/2 inch, trumpets. |
| Size | 12 to 16 inches high spreading to 24 inches wide. |
| Hardiness | USDA zones 3 - 9. |
| Soil Type | Good garden soil with good drainage. |
| Soil pH | Neutral to slightly acidic. |
| Light | Full sun to part shade. |
| Water | Average water needs. |
| Notes | Can be used in containers. |
An even newer plant has been recently developed from the
original Stella and it is the Daylily "Black-Eyed Stella" (Hemerocallis
Black-Eyed Stella). This plant is very similar to the Stella d'Oro but it
may get a little larger and the flower has a deep red throat color. Two
of these went into our garden this year and we will keep you posted on their
progress. Hopefully this is the beginning of a wide color range for these
long blooming daylilis.
