Johann married Sophia Dorothea Auch, daughter of Johann George Auch and Sophie Dorothea Strobel, on 24 May 1762 in Möehringen, Wüerttemberg, Germany. Sophia was born on 11 Sep 1740 in Möehringen, Wüerttemberg, Germany.

Their children were:

   4 M    i. Johann William Kiess was born on 3 Oct 1768 in Möehringen, Wüerttemberg, Germany and died on 26 Mar 1808.

+ 5 M    ii. Christopher Kiess was born on 10 Jan 1778 in Möehringen, Wüerttemberg, Germany and died on 26 Mar 1866 in Blooming Grove, Lycoming County, PA.

+ 6 M    iii. Johann George Kiess ¹ was born on 8 Aug 1781 in Möehringen, Wüerttemberg, Germany, died on 1 Oct 1858 ² and was buried in Blooming Grove Cemetery, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, PA.

George married Dorothea Gohl. Dorothea was born on 14 Jan 1766 and died on 4 Jun 1847.

   9 F    iii. Dorothea Kiess was born on 30 Aug 1765 ³, died on 12 May 1860 ³ and was buried in Blooming Grove Cemetery, Hepburn Township, Lycoming County, PA ³.
