Marislet

Marislet has black eyes and golden curls. She is thin, 53 pounds, and of medium height for a halfling, 3 feet 4 inches. She wears clean, burgundy studded leather armor, and black soft boots. She carries a backpack and wears a small belt pouch. A club hangs on her left hip. A small shield bearing the emblem of a cornucopia is strapped to her backpack. She seems young and delicate even by halfling standards, but wears a determined expression that reflects formidable inner strength.

Marislet grew up in a large halfling community in the lowlands. She has a loving home with her parents, Bomalet and Wanillisa Thalen. Marislet has 2 brothers, Thanilus and Crosius; and 1 sister Nalana. All members are still alive.

When she was little, Marislet and her mother would go for long walks. Her mother pointed out all the bees and birds and other wild life. Soon Marislet learned what each animal was named. One day while walking, they found a wounded bird. Marislet was distraught because she didn’t want the bird to die. So, her mom helped her cage the bird and bring it to Milvantus, the local healer. Birds were not really Milvantus’ specialty, but he couldn’t ignore the hopeful look in the little girls eyes. Soon Marislet was rescuing all sorts of animals and bringing them back to the village. Milvantus allowed Marislet to help him take care of the creatures. She became proficient at repairing wings and bandaging small wounds.

At the same time, Marislet’s mother thought it quite important for her to know how to cook, so she taught her. Marislet took turns with her sister Nalana and her mother preparing dinner. When Marislet wasn’t rescuing hurt animals, she could be found in the swimming hole with her brothers and sisters. They loved to horseplay and also to race each other. Marislet was only an average swimmer, so she seldom won the races.

As Marislet grew, Bomalet was scared his daughter wouldn’t be able to defend herself in an emergency. He knew she wouldn’t hurt a fly, she wouldn’t even eat meat because a poor animal had been killed. After much pleading, Marislet agreed to learn how to use only weapons that weren’t sharp and wouldn’t draw blood. She practiced hitting targets on a tree with her sling, but she would never hit a living creature. She also practiced with a club. This was a harder battle for her father to win. Marislet never really liked practicing, but did so to please her father.

When Marislet was 20, she asked Milvantus if she could help with his normal patients, the halflings. She had watched him closely and already knew a lot. Milvantus agreed to let her become his apprentice, after all, she loved life so much! Marislet enthusiastically assisted Milvantus learning all she could. In addition to teaching her basic first aid, he taught her how to use herbs for healing, how to heal by prayer, and about his Goddess, Yondalla the Provider. When she had learned all she could from him, Milvantus initiated Marislet as a full fledged Cleric and presented her with a holy symbol that she would keep with her always.

Marislet is a happy young lady who loves all the world's creatures. On some occasions, she is prone to a sharp tongue, especially when she's been provoked. She loves to tease others. She is a sucker when it comes to anyone who is hurt and feels obligated to help them. Marislet's favorite color is burgundy. Her favorite food is potatoes. She does not drink alcohol and her favorite refreshment is lemonade.
