Socia is a strong, sturdy gnome standing 3 1/2 feet tall with green eyes, light tan skin, and short, flame red hair. A large scar runs from just below her ear to the tip of her jaw. She wears black chain mail covering her arms, torso, and extending to mid thigh. The armor almost completely covers a black shirt, with black trousers covering her legs. Steel gauntlets, a black leather belt and black leather boots complete her attire.
Socia carries a plain back pack and bed roll. The black and silver hilt of her short sword can be seen over her right shoulder, a hand ax hangs from her right hip, and a knife protrudes from her left boot. She carries a black shield emblazoned with 2 crossing swords, and short bow strapped to her back.
Socia grew up in a small gnomish community on the border of the wastelands. She had a happy childhood for the first 10 years until her parents were killed in an orc raid. An only child, she was alone in the world except for her unmarried Uncle Braknar. Her uncle took her in and raised her the only way he knew how, as a son. Many of the women folk in the community took Socia into their hearts. Many attempts were made to teach her the womenly ways of cooking and sewing, but alas they were futile.
Socia carried a great anger inside her for the orcs that killed her parents. As she grew older she sharpened her fighting skills with Uncle Braknar who was himself a great warrior, armorer, and weaponsmith. The womenfolk of the community urged her to stop "this foolishness" and leave the fighting to the men. She wouldn't listen and practised day and night. At the time she had no idea what she was practising for, but she was driven to do so by the hatred that grew deep inside her.
When Socia was 25 she disobeyed her uncle and followed him into battle against a band of raiding Trolls. During the long and tiresome battle she received a blow to her left cheek, leaving a scar that ran the length of her jawline. This battle killed many of her friends and only made her thirst for blood stronger.
Socia grew to be a strong young woman. Proud of the fighter Socia had become, Uncle Braknar presented her with a short sword he made especially for her on her 45th birthday. Knowing her love of the color black, he made both blade and hilt black with bands of silver on the hilt for grip. She meticulously cleans her cherished sword at the end of every day.
Socia's coming of age party was held during her 46th year and lasted 3 weeks. Seeing how strong willed Socia had become about fighting, her uncle presented her with a suit of shiny black chain mail, a helm and a small shield with 2 crossed swords on it, that he had crafted. He knew she would need them because of the reckless abandon and sometimes poor judgement she used in picking battles to fight. Many a time he had to rescue her from a battle that she really had no chance of winning. All Socia knew is that she wanted to fight and if she thought she had even a small chance of winning, she didn't hesitate to enter battle. Socia also became quite meticulous about the cleaning of her armor, never going to sleep without polishing it.
After Socia's party, she decided it was time to seek out a new trainer, her uncle was good but she wanted to be better. So she left her village and headed towards the hills with a group of gnomes going out to discover the world. One day they happened upon a Dwarven Fighter named Clator who, with some convincing, agreed to train her further. She spent many years travelling with Clator and learning as much as she could from him. However he grew weary of her recklessness, even though she often defeated her enemy without problem.
Socia returned home only to find that the village had once again been attacked by Orcs. Her uncle had been killed in the attack. Both saddened and infuriated, Socia swore vengance on the Orcs. No longer having a home, she took off to find adventure
Socia is a very confident person, sometimes to the point of recklessness when it comes to battle. She is quite articulate and has no problem expressing her feelings and opinions to others. She loves a good practical joke as much as the next gnome. She is meticulous when it comes to the cleaning of her treasured gifts from her uncle.
