This is one of my Husband's favorite meals. Served with a salad it makes a complete meal. We had company one year the day after Christmas. My Friend's husband was a vegetarian and she was a "so-so" one. What to fix? I made the following recipe. I took 3/4's of it and made it normal. Then I took a 1/4 of it and instead of putting the meat in it I used sauted veggies. It turned out delicious! Even my husband tasted it and liked it. All it did was flavor the veggies like it did the meat so it can be served to anyone!! BEEF PAPRIKA 1/4 cup shortening 2 lbs. beef chuch or round, cut into 1" cubes 1 cup sliced onions 1 small clove garlic, minced 3/4 cup catsup 2 tblsp. Worcestershire Sauce 1 tblsp. brown sugar 2 tsp. salt 2 tsp. paprika 1/2 tsp dry mustard Dash cayenne red pepper 1-1/2 cups water 2 tblsp. flour 1/4 cup water 3 cups hot cooked noodles Melt shortening in large skillet. Add meat, onion and garlic; cook and stir until meat is brown and onion is tender. Stir in catsup, Worcestershire sauce, sugar, salt, paprika, mustard, cayenne and 1-1/2 cups water. Cover; simmer 2 to 2-1/2 hurs. Blend flour and 1/4 cup water; stir gradually into meat mixture. Heat to boiling, stirring constantly. Boil and stir 1 minute. Serve over noodles. 6 to 8 servings. This is another one of my Hubby's favorites. We like it kinda spicy-hot. Savory Pork Chop Supper 6 med. potatoes, thinly sliced (about 5 cups) 1 can (2.8 oz.) Durkee French Fried Onions 1 jar (2 oz.) sliced mushrooms, drained 2 tblsp. butter or margarine 1/4 cup soy sauce 1-1/2 tsp. Ground Mustard 1/2 tsp RedHot Cayenne Pepper Sauce 1/8 tsp garlic powder 1 tblsp. vegetable oil 6 pork chops, 1/2 to 3/4 inch thick Preheat oven to 350 degrees. In 8x12 inch baking dish, layer half the potatoes and 1/2 can French Fried Onions. Top with mushrooms and remaining potatoes. In small saucepan, melt butter, stir in soy sauce, mustard, cayenne pepper sauce and garlic powder. Brush half the soy sauce mixture over potatoes. In large skillet, heat oil. Brown pork shops on both sides; drain. Arrange chops over potatoes and brush with remaining soy sauce mixture. Bake, covered, at 350 degrees for 1 hour. Bake, uncovered, 15 minutes or until pork chps and potatoes are done. Top chops with remaining onions; bake, uncovered, 5 minutes or until onions are golden brown. Makes 4 to 6 servings This next recipe is from my Mother-in-Law. My husband really loves these but I dislike them intensely. It's all a matter of taste. BLOOPERS (A type of pancake or flapjack.) 1 Cup Flour 1 Egg And enough milk to make it runny add Sugar to taste. Fry in Crisco until light brown. Serve with jelly, jam, preserves, honey, pancake syrup, 10-X (confectioner's sugar) or whatever suits your fancy. Kitchen Links These are places I go to enjoy anything about the kitchen.
