AUGUST MEETING This month's meeting was a bit different. We had it at night instead of during the day. Our church gave us permission to have it on a Thursday night, 14 August. This worked really well because it enabled some of the Dads to attend also.
We had a total of 8 Moms and 5 Dads in attendance. We conducted our meeting in one room, whereas all our children were in another. My 15 year old daughter and 2 other preteens watched all our children. Being at the church, there were plenty of toys, books, videos, etc to help keep them entertained. I had set out a box for donations to help the girls out a bit.
A week prior I asked for volunteers to bring goodies and punch for both the parents and the children. There was plenty for everyone! My husband put on a pot of coffee and we were ready to go!
We discussed on choosing a monthly meeting date. Wednesday nights seemed convenient with Awanas, choir, bible studies going on and most of the parents would already be at the church. Sunday after church service was suggested also. Bringing our own lunch or having a potluck was an idea for that day. Then one other night of the week like maybe Thursday nights. Unfortunately, it was left wide open and I decided to discuss the possibilities with one of the Moms that worked at the church. She was out of town until the following week.
One of the Moms that does graphics was asked to come up with ideas by the next meeting. We were all asked to submit any ideas we may have ourselves.
Putting words together for our group's statement of faith was our homework by the next meeting. We want to be able to include this into our new brochure.
We discussed art supplies and whether we could pay the church a fee to use theirs or buy our own and lock it up at the church. Field trips, Iowa state tests, talent shows, book club were all mentioned.
Our meeting lasted just under two hours. We opened and closed it in prayer. Come check out September's meeting!
