After the Lord revealed to me that I should homeschool my children, I felt the need to be around other Moms who homeschooled. Since this was all so new to me, I had no idea how to start. After speaking to a few moms at my church, I suggested we get together and meet.
One Mom offered up her home for our get-together. We decided to have it in June, so we passed the word around. I spoke with several people in the church on getting permission to put out flyers to notify other parents. Permission granted.
We also received permission to use the church's name. Our group is now officially called "The Riverside Homeschool Support Group." It is open to any parent who homeschools and is Christian-based. We are in the process of putting together our beliefs and philosophy.
The church has been so kind as to offer to print us up our own brochure. Once we have established a set monthly meeting place and time, the brochures will be set out at the church for all to see. One Mom is working on us using the church's facilities on Wednesday nights, once a month.
This truly is God's doing because I still can't believe we have a support group. God has given me the confidence and strength to go on with this.
I'd like to share with you what has taken place during some of our meetings. I hope this may be an inspiration and encouragement to those who are thinking of forming a new support group. And also, fun to read for those who already are members of one.
