Terry's 3M's
Okay, I am going to take the time off to try to get some things done and to vegetate. But, I couldn't help it. I have to write this down somewhere. First, panic set in a little earlier this evening. I have a hair-trigger panic button where my kids are concerned anyway. They were supposed to be home from their friend's house at 6:30. When they didn't arrive by 7, I called to find out whether or not they had left the friend's house. They had...20 minutes before. For me, it's a 20 minute walk. For them, it usually takes 10 or 15 minutes. They should have been home. I walked outside. No sign of them. Panic time. I sent Bryan to go see where they were with the instructions to turn back at the school if he hadn't found them. In the meantime, I'm thinking, "Johnny was wearing his white Barbados t-shirt, brown cutoffs, black athetic shoes (I was wrong about the t-shirt, he had changed into a Taz shirt before going to his friend's house.), Carrie is wearing the Mickey Mouse/Dallas Cowboy t-shirt and jean shorts, Steffie is wearing.?. Pink. Pink shorts. Pink top? (actually, the top was really a dress that she had tucked into the pink shorts. It was pink, yellow, and orange horizontal stripes.)" Thinking that I had better have descriptions of what they were wearing if I had to call the police to go looking for them. [I said that I panic easily.] About 10 minutes later, I watch Bryan and the kids coming down the sidewalk.
They said they took the shortcut through the desert. Their shortcut is at least twice as long. All they have to do is walk down one street until they get to the turn street which is one block long and turns into our street at it's end. And then they all denied being the one to choose the shortcut. So, I grounded them for a week. Which isn't as bad as it sounds because they seldom go out on a school night anyway. So, it really just means tomorrow and (maybe) next Saturday.
So, I went from panic-stricken, to relieved, to angry, and now I'm excited! Oh, yeah! A few months ago, I vented on these pages about our local upn station switching to wb. Well, we have another upn station again!!! And not only do we have the new station, but, I get to catch up with the episodes of Voyager that I missed during those months because they are having Voyager: the Lost Episodes on Sunday nights! Yahoo!!!! Bryan told me that kupn was on channel now. So, I went back to the website and it's still the traitorous wb channel. So, I went to the regular UPN site and looked up affiliates. And found our local station. It looks as if it's been up and running for maybe a month now. Yes, I did know that channel 25 existed before this. It's just that I think it was one of the Spanish speaking channels before this. So, since I don't speak Spanish, I never watched it. But, now I will. And a lot of the stations around here have foregone showing old movies for a long, long time. This station will be showing movies in the mornings and afternoons as well as late at night. I'll have to check my supply of tapes. I would love to get some of the old movies on tape again. Especially movies with Katharine Hepburn.
Somehow, I lost some of my movie tapes. The movies I miss the most are Bringing Up Baby, The African Queen, The Philadelphia Story and Pat and Mike. I still have Desk Set, if only I can remember where it is...
