Terry's Focus
The house is quiet. For a little bit anyway. The family has gone to get pictures taken at the photography studio co-owned by Delton's dad. I didn't go because I didn't want to get my picture taken. And because this week is going to be one of those weeks when I get very little alone time. It's parent/teacher conference time again. That means that the kids will get home from school at about 12:30 for the rest of the week. On Thursday, I get to go to school for a 15 minute conference with each of the kid's teachers. At the conferences, I will receive the report cards of each kid. Alas, no A report cards this time. John's doing very well, but, he's slipping a little in math. His teacher says that he needs to work on his multiplication tables. So, I've downloaded a little freeware multiplication table game that he had fun playing with yesterday. Although I did have to tell him that it would someone else's turn to use it if he didn't stay out of the times 10 table. I know he can do those! John's dad gave me Stephen King's Bag of Bones on Thanksgiving day. It is one of his best and since I read it so quickly--staying up until 3:15 one morning to finish it, I'd like to take my time and reread some of the passages more slowly. I belong to a Stephen King e-mail list that sends out a 30-35K letter every day. I have been downloading all the letters since September and have avoided reading them because I knew that I wouldn't be able to resist reading what other people thought/ and their comments on parts of Bag of Bones. So, now I have two and a half megs of back newsletters to read! Well, gotta go get dinner ready before the troops get back. Mac and cheese with ground beef. I think I'll have a salad for dinner instead. |
